The skill
Turns a book or paper into a skill your agent can use.
Only when you ask.
Smarter agent
Your knowledge base grows with each new document you add. Your agent knows more.
↻ Runs by itselfevery time you add a document
When does it start? How does it check its work? What does it remember?
One new document per run; stop at the first scan finding without rewriting files.
Check the new file has a supported format and spot that the target skill already exists, so this is an Update/Fold-in run.
Ask you whether the source is technical or text-heavy to pick the extraction mode.
Run extract.py, then confirm in metadata.json that the extracted file is the one you added.
Show you sources, pages and token counts and wait for your go before generating.
Merge revisions into existing chapter files or add new ones numbered after the highest chapter.
Update glossary.md, patterns.md, cheatsheet.md and the Chapter and Topic Index in SKILL.md.
Run scan_generated_skill.py and stop for your review if it reports findings.
Remove only this run's workdir and log the folded source.
It writes only in its own folder and asks you before anything goes out.
Read both lists. If the left one sounds like you, the Book to Skill skill helps.
No. It uses the skill's fold-in path, so only new or revised chapters and the indexes change.
No. Publishing is an optional extra the skill offers once; this loop leaves it out.
The run stops and waits for you to review the flagged files and lines.
Copy the prompt at the top into your agent. It installs the skill from virgiliojr94/book-to-skill and sets up the habit. Or run npx skills add virgiliojr94/book-to-skill --skill book-to-skill.
Yes. It is published under MIT. Habit is free too.
