The skill
With the news skill, agents read live and archived front-page headlines from 20 countries through a public API, for breaking news, current events and comparing how different outlets frame a story.
Only when you ask.
The habit
A daily front-page brief per country.
↻ Runs by itselfevery morning
When does it start? How does it check its work? What does it remember?
Stops after at most 5 countries per run.
The agent reads the country keys to cover from the run log.
It calls the country-view endpoint once per country.
It compares the current, previous and yesterday overviews.
Raw headlines count as the source of truth; overviews are only context.
It names the dominant stories and how framing differs across sources.
It saves the timestamp and countries for the next run.
It writes only in its own folder and asks you before anything goes out.
Read both lists. If the left one sounds like you, the The News skill helps.
No. The endpoint is public, read-only and needs no authentication.
They are AI-written context. The raw headlines are the source of truth, and neither replaces checking a claim.
Yes, with an at timestamp or the daily-overviews call for up to 7 days.
Copy the prompt at the top into your agent. It installs the skill from SFKislev/The-News and sets up the habit. Or run npx skills add SFKislev/The-News --skill the-news.
