Load parent skill
The agent uses the parent neon skill first for the Neon overview.

Choose type
Normal branch for real-data migration tests, schema-only branch when data is sensitive; it asks if unclear.

Check the CLI
Run neon --version and neon projects list, and fall back to Neon MCP only if the CLI cannot be used.

Create branch
Run neon branches create with --name, --parent and --expires-at, plus --schema-only when needed.

Validate
Fetch the branch with neon connection-string or describe_branch.

Ask about .env
Ask before writing the new DATABASE_URL and never overwrite a key without your yes.

Clean up
On PR close, delete the branch listed in the run log.

No. Schema-only branches are independent root branches, so reset from parent does not apply.
Can new branches expire on their own?
Yes. Set --expires-at on create, or a ttl for matching branches in neon.ts.
