The skill

The knap skill uses the Knap CLI to render Markdown notes from templates and JSON or CSV data, one file or a whole batch.

Only when you ask.

The habit

Turn new data into notes.

↻ Runs by itselfnew data file arrives

How the habit works.
You don't have to.

Three questionsWhen does it start? How does it check its work? What does it remember?

One run, step by step.
Then it stops.

Stop ruleStops after one data file per run.

  1. 01

    Check the CLI

Your agent checks knap is installed, or uses npx knap.

  2. 02

    Validate the template

It runs knap validate on the template.

  3. 03

    Dry run

It runs knap batch with --dry-run to list output paths.

  4. 04

    Render

It runs knap batch with --output-dir and a safe_name --filename.

  5. 05

    Log

It records the data file and the notes it wrote.

What it may do.
Nothing more.

Safe by defaultIt writes only in its own folder and asks you before anything goes out.

Is it for you?
Use it when it fits.

Quick checkRead both lists. If the left one sounds like you, the Knap skill helps.

Use it when

  • ✓ You turn CSV rows into notes
  • ✓ You apply a template to JSON
  • ✓ You format Defuddle output as a note

Skip it when

  • – You need browser-only Web Clipper variables
  • – You write notes by hand

Questions
