It starts by itself

new image prompt added. Runs in Claude Code routine.

It checks its work

dry run + files exist. If a check fails, it tries again.

    Read the config

    Open references/config.md and references/models-and-api.md to set environment variables and pick a tier.

    Pick a model

    Use nanobanana-2 by default, nanobanana for speed or nanobanana-pro for the best fidelity.

    Dry run

    Add --dry-run to inspect the payload, endpoint and model options before sending.

  4. 04

    Generate

    Run scripts/nanobanana.py generate for one image or batch for several variants, with --input-image for edits.

  5. 05

    Check files

    Confirm each image file exists in the loop folder and the count matches.

  6. 06

    Log the run

    Write the prompt, model alias, ratio and size to the run log without any secrets.

Which model does the loop use?

nanobanana-2 unless the prompt asks for speed (nanobanana) or top fidelity (nanobanana-pro).

Can it use my own gateway?

Yes. Pass --base-url or GEMINI_BASE_URL pointing to the Gemini API root.

Why a dry run first?

Some options only work on some models, for example nanobanana rejects --size, so the dry run catches this before a real request.
