The skill
The validate skills skill checks every skill in a repo against the agentskills.io spec and Claude Code best practices, then reports PASS or FAIL per rule.
Only when you ask.
The habit
Every skill passes the spec.

When does it start? How does it check its work? What does it remember?
Stops after all skill folders in skills/ are checked once per run.
Your agent lists every skill directory with fd -t d -d 1 . skills/.
For each SKILL.md it checks name format, name match, description length and optional fields.
It checks third-person description, body length, markdown links, no repeat of the description and one-level-deep loading.
It writes a Validation Results list with PASS or FAIL per check.
It stores the results so the next run can compare.
It writes only in its own folder and asks you before anything goes out.
Read both lists. If the left one sounds like you, the Validate Skills skill helps.
Every reference file must be reachable straight from SKILL.md. Cross-links between references are fine as long as both are also linked from SKILL.md.
No. It reports PASS or FAIL for each check so you can fix them.
The agentskills.io spec plus Claude Code best practices for skills.
Copy the prompt at the top into your agent. It installs the skill from callstackincubator/agent-skills and sets up the habit. Or run npx skills add callstackincubator/agent-skills --skill validate-skills.
